Jessie J

She's 21, she's from Essex, she's far from unattractive, she has attitude and she can actually sing. This is Jessie J.
You may have heard her track 'Do It Like a Dude' which has over 5 million views on Youtube.  She has already written songs for stars such as Justin Timberlake, Chris Brown and Christina Aguilera. Here she is on the Jools Holland show performing her track 'Price Tag'

There are already various remixes of her debut track 'Do It Like a Dude' <- (sick video!). There's a dancehall/dubstep remix by Jakwob, a dubstep remix by HyGrade but my personal favourite is this by Curtis Lynch Jnr ft (our favourite) Lady Chann! Her debut album 'Who You Are' is set to be released this year so keep an eye out!

MINIMIX!

Here's a particularly good minimix I came across! Although I would say that 'cos I made it! It mainly features hip hop, dubstep and reggae.  Just click to the title to be taken to the soundcloud page where you can see the full tracklist. I hope you enjoy!

Lethal B - POW 2011

The grime anthem by Lethal B back from 2004 which blew up grime to the mainstream has been revamped with a new lease of life with bars from the finest MC's in the game including JME, Wiley, Chipmunk, 2face, P Money, Ghetts & Kano. IMO Kano kill's it!
And guess who's already banged out a remix...? Skream!  This remix sounds like Skream track's of old - DARK, PUNCHY, DUTTY!

Plan B - Love Goes Down (Remixes)

Ever wondered what it would sound like if you crossed melodic vocals, with happy hardcore, with drumstep, and some metal? Holy Mackerel. [Make sure you keep listening for the final 30 seconds!]  And if you're not too sure on the happy hardcore aspects of this remix (I'm not too sure myself!) then do not worry, a new edit is on its way minus that madness!
Danny Byrd has also provided a remix. ALOT less mental than Doctor P, kicking some relaxed bouncy vibes on this drum&bass version. Have a listen...

Behind the Scenes with Toddla T

Red Bull have announced a 6 part documentary series entitled 'Producers' in which they showcase some of the biggest producers throughout the world. Tinchy Stryder - GAME OVER

Doesn't get much bigger than this in the UK hip hop/grime scene right now. The title coincides with Tinchy & Giggs' recent DefJam Rapstar adverts. There's been wide spread comments regarding who should have featured on the track, who was best from the artists that do and also who was the worst. I'm not guna lie, Chipmunks verse has not gone down well.  See what you think... You can also watch it live at the 2010 MOBO Awards only minus Example and Chipmunk here.

Free Chase & Status 'Hypest Hype'

Saul & Will aka Chase and Status are giving away their track 'Hypest Hype' featuring Tempa T completely free via their website which can be found here. All you have to do is put in your email address and they'll send you a link to the free download. Watch the video here

Mary Anne Hobbs - The Queen of Dubstep

Mary Anne Hobbs played a MASSIVE part in making dubstep more accessible and introducing the sound to a new audience by playing it on her Radio 1 Experimental show in 2006.  She has helped pioneer the sound and her show Dubstep Warz which aired on the 10th January 2006 featured only the biggest producers and went down as a legendary moment in the evolution of dubstep.  This show helped expand dubstep to a global level can be found here and downloaded here.
Unfortunately Mary Anne Hobbs aired her final broadcast for Radio 1 last night after 14 years with the BBC.  She was joined by Burial and Kode 9. It was an emotional send off and you can listen to it here on the iplayer for the next seven days.  She is now venturing to Sheffield University to act as a mentor to students.  Best of luck to her, she will be missed!

It's been a while!

Yo, sorry for the lack of posts recently, I've been a busy bee. SW4, Ministry of Sound, Skydiving (nearly) etc.  SW4 was sick but they need to bulk up the sound systems if I'm to be tempted back next year.  Highlights included Erol Alkan's jam packed tent rave after the sudden downpour, moshpit during Skream & Benga's set, catching Salt N Pepper sing 'Lets Talk About Sex' and of course headlining the main stage - Fat Boy Slim!

Big news on the dubstep front, Barack Obama is following Skream on Twitter!! Ha how mad is that. He likes to stay down with the kids apparently. Skream commented on the situation saying 'I never had Obama down as a bass head!' - LOL.

Anyway moving on, new things from Toddla T and Ms Dynamite called 'Want U Now' which is forthcoming on Ninja Tune XX, which can be heard here.  Everything Ms Dynamite has touched recently has turned to gold so expect this to be wrecking dancefloors near you soon!

Speaking of Skream, Toddla and Ms Dynamite, seen this line up for the Warehouse Project in Manchester on Dec 15th? It will be massive! Info

Caspa Ft Mr Husdon

If you havn't heard this collab yet then gosh knows what you've been doing with yourself. Its had a lot of mixed views, I for one love it. Mr Hudson singing over Caspa's 'Back for the First Time' track.  You can listen to it here.  However what I really wanted to show you was the 'making of' video, so check it out, def worth a watch.

Album Flex!

Bloc Party front man Kele Okereke, after some time off has released an innovative solo album crossing over from indie to techno to leftfield electronica  The album is called 'The Boxer' and is out now. The first track released is called 'Tenderoni' and the  'Everything you Wanted' will be the second release coming out later this month.  Best tracks of the album in my opinion is 'On the Lam' due to the bouncy electro, but then again I've never been a great fan of slow and melodic and the first release Tenderoni. Have a listen...

Skream's much anticipated album Outside the Box is now available to order from play.com here or pre-order on itunes for download with expected release tomorrow (8th August).

Professor Green's debut album 'Alive Till I'm Dead' is also now out.  It features a array of collaborations with artists such as Example, Lilly Allen, Ed Drewett and Labrinth who featured on Tinie Tempah's latest track Frisky (whilst we're chatting about Tinie, keep an eye out for his track with Swedish House Mafia called 'Miami to Ibiza').  Anyway, back to Pro Green, his album is a mix of funk, pop and grime, and one song that especially caught my attention was 'Jungle' ft Maverick Sabre. Dubstep vibes, unofficial video.

Any comments you may have regarding any of my posts, feel free to leave one underneath!

A Mixed Bag!

1. Funk Butcher - producer and presenter on Rinse FM. All things house and funky every Friday 5pm- 7pm.  Check his soundcloud now! Dance away...

2. Tinie Tempah is killing it right now, from a nationwide tour to collabing with Diddy on the 'Hello Good Morning (Team UK Remix)' along with T Strydz, which you can listen to here. However Bristol's TC has remixed his latest single 'Frisky' which you can check below.

3. If you like free music, especially electro, and you have Twitter or Facebook (which is 1/13th of the entire population!) then you're in luck because Brodinski has teamed up with Radioclit (link to Radioclit's 'Divine Gosa' Switch remix) to release a track entitled 'PLZ LET MI FUK YA' (which gets nicely to the point) and all they want in return is a tweet.  So click here to take full advantage!

4. Toddla T's 'Sky Surfin' featuring Wayne Marshall is about as upbeat as it gets, you can listen to it and check Toddla out in Jamaica whilst linking with Wayne Marshall, and many others on this video.  However house / club producer Douster from Argentina has got his hands on it and has smashed it with mellow, bassy vibes and you can download the remix for free here.
